Governance
At Aitken Spence we place great emphasis and importance on the principles and practices of good corporate governance. We firmly believe that our implementation of sound principles of corporate governance is important to the Group’s overall success, and has enabled the Group to secure the confidence and trust of its shareholders, customers, employees and other stakeholders.
Our Board of Directors is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and transparency in the governance of the Company and its subsidiaries. In respect to Corporate Governance, the Group is guided by the “Code of Best Practice” of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, the requirements of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka and the Colombo Stock Exchange.

Finance
Recognizing the synergies and value addition that can be gained through the centralization of certain services, the corporate finance, treasury, corporate planning & project evaluation, taxation, company secretarial, information technology, internal audit, legal, human resource development, security and personnel functions of the Group have been brought under the umbrella of Aitken Spence Corporate Finance (Pvt) Ltd.
This has resulted in the build up of a pool of resources in diverse fields within the Group. This centralised services function also enables the harnessing of the potential expertise of the respective disciplines in the most efficient manner, providing a valuable impetus to the growth and expansion of the Group.
Management
Strong leadership is central to our aim of becoming globally competitive market leader. A leadership programme for the senior management of the Group was conducted by the Post Graduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, to improve skills in leadership and effective management.
This initiative was coupled with the creation of development plans for top performers backed by individual assessment and accredited business training. We continue our journey towards leadership development by teaming up with Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore) and other management schools in the Asian region. The leaders set the tone for the next level emphasizing the importance of developing future managers.
