Aitken Spence plays an important role in the country's tea industry as the partner of a consortium, which owns two plantation companies comprising 13 estates. The plantations cover a land area of approximately 8,800 hectares where the Aitken Spence Plantations division grows high grown.
Elpitiya Plantations offers its distinct Ceylon Tea under its value added new brand - "Harrow Ceylon Choice" and is aimed at elite clientele, in Sri Lanka as well as in international markets.
As part of the Aitken Spence plantations diversification programme, land on the plantations has already been diversified for oil palms and we have set up a joint venture palm oil mill. The plantation companies also provide several opportunities for diversification into agro-based industries. |

| A joint venture factory to manufacture rubber-wood furniture for export has also been set up with a US partner. The plantations also provide opportunities for diversification into eco tourism, real estate development and hydropower. |
